Set Goals for Greater Success

What do you want to accomplish for 2014? Do you have short and long term goals? Henry David Thoreau once said, “What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” There is something inspiring about that sentence because no matter what, the person you become, the confidence in yourself and the skills you develop while striving and meeting the goal can never be taken away from you.

When it comes to setting goals, Brian Tracy, author of Eat That Frog, says “one of the most important keys to success is to ‘think of paper’.” By taking what you want and writing it down clearly on paper and knowing exactly what you want to accomplish will hugely increase your chances of reacting your goals. How? Because when you write down your goals you give your subconscious something to work on and achieve. With your goal clearly defined, you begin to look for opportunities and meet people who will help you reach them.

Jack Canfield, motivational speaker and co-creator of Chicken Soup for the Soul, recommends once you have written down your goals, turn them into a “measurable objective,” such as how much by when? By keeping track of your day to day success you will be more inspired to continue to move forward each day and will see the strides you are taking.

What is one thing you hope to accomplish this year? What is one of your tips to staying motivated?
